First of all, WTF is CBD?
CBD - short for Cannabidiol - is a compound found in cannabis. Unlike its relative THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, it does not get you "high" or "stoned". Instead, it has a calming effect, helping to relieve inflammation, anxiety, insomnia and pain, possibly more.
Is CBD legal?
Yes! Under the 2018 Farm Bill, it is legal at the federal level to grow industrial hemp (cannabis sativa) if it contains less than 0.3% THC; CBD can be derivated from that.
How does CBD work?
Because cannabis (both with and without THC) was illegal for so long in the United States, it was difficult to research it. That said, we do know that our bodies have an endocannabinoid system with receptors that bind with cannabis compounds, helping to relieve the aforementioned symptoms. These receptors are found all over the body, including on the skin, which is why CBD can be ingested or applied topically.
Where is your CBD from?
Our CBD is from a farm in the Hudson Valley, New York. It is organically grown and third-party lab tested to ensure it is free of any contaminants like pesticides. Like all of our partners, our CBD producer shares our passion for sustainablity and are pioneers in regenerative agriculture.
About CBD Dosing (Ingesting Orally)
Like with any new wellness routine - running, yoga, etc - it’s always smart to start slow. The same applies to CBD dosing: play it safe to see how it affects you.
How to begin:
Remember: Everybody processes CBD differently based on key factors like sex, age, weight and diet. Therefore, it is not one-size-fits-all; don’t necessarily look to your friends or partner for your dose. Also, keep in mind that your dosage may change based on the need you are trying to address and whether your condition is mild or severe.
1. First and foremost, we recommend consulting with your doctor before adding CBD - or any supplement - to your routine. There could be interactions with your existing medicines or supplements.
2. Always start low and slow: start with a base dose for a few days (we recommend 1/2 dropper full). Then, increase by 1-2 drops until you find the dose that feels right for you. You may even want to take notes to help you track.
3. Be consistent. Like with anything, you will get the best results if you take daily, or at least regularly.
4. Again, depending on stressors like travel, workouts, life in general, you may need to adjust.
